Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, and grew up in nearby Dobbs Ferry. His parents, Edward Zuckerberg, is a dentist, and his mother, Karen Zuckerberg, is a psychiatrist. Mark got interested in computer programming at an early stage. His father taught him Atari Basic and then hired developer David Newman to give his son lessons.
Mark Zuckerberg created a messaging program which he called “Zucknet.” He implemented inter-office communication, which allowed computers to connect and transfer messages between house and dental office. The messenger communicates by Ping, which is the primitive version of AOL’s instant messenger.
Mark also enjoyed developing games and communication tools such as the computer version of Monopoly. Being at high school for his senior project at Exeter, Zuckerberg wrote an artificially intelligent music player called the Synapse that carefully studied the user’s listening habits and recommended other music. He posted it online, Microsoft, AOL wanted to acquire it, but he turned them down and enrolled at Harvard University in September 2002.
Mark studied computer science at Harvard University. He had gained the best reputation as a programming prodigy. Then he wrote a program that he called CourseMatch, which helped the students to make class selection decisions on the basis of lists of courses from other users and also to help them form study groups. He also invented Facemash, which aims to find out the most attractive person on the campus. He wrote a program that randomly selected two pictures of the people and put them next to each other. The visitors of the site choose “who is hotter”? The software compiled and ranked the result.
It was an astounding success, but the college shut it down because its popularity bogged down the network at Harward; many students complained that their pictures were used without their permission; it was offensive to people on campus. Zuckerberg ended the project and apologized publicly.

Zuckerberg partnered with friends to create a social networking site that brings social experience to the internet. They wanted to create an environment where college students can share photos, links, and other personnel information. Zuckerberg’s friends at Harvard included Chris Huges, Billy Olson, Dustin Moskovitz, the conversation that occurred among them enhanced ideas. The task of Mark Zuckerberg includes creating the best source code which allows the system to work.
February 04, 2004, Mark Zuckerberg registered the domain Thefacebook.com, which is known as Facebook.com. However, an application is intended to function only within Harvard. Zuckerberg and his friend Dustin Moskovitz realized that there were already many registered users on Facebook, and they decided to spread it to other schools at Yale, Stanford, Columbia University, New York University, University of Pennsylvania. Zuckerberg and some other friends moved to Palo Alto, California, in Silicon Valley, where they set up a small office. After that, Mark met with Peter Thiel, who agreed to invest in the company. They also turned down offers by major corporations. For Mark Zuckerberg and his friends, the most important thing is to create free flow information for people.
By 2005 Facebook was accessible to all institutions and universities in the USA. The interest of the user to Facebook grows exponentially. Then its registration is available to the public. The idea attracted by users is that friends can communicate with each other online. The Facebook audience overgrows, and then Mark seeks the financing strategies for Facebook. By September 26, 2006, anyone could make a Facebook account as long as they had a valid email address, and it was the most used social networking site. Facebook continued to grow its audience; on July 21, 2010, the company reached 500 million users. The large companies offered Zuckerberg to sell the project, but it did not satisfy Mark.
After launching the site, six days later, the senior students accused Mark Stealing of their idea. They claimed that they hired Zuckerberg for the establishment of the social networking site, which is HardvardConnection.com, but Zuckerberg did not provide the result and used the original code to create Facebook. In the same year, Narendra and the Winklevoss twins also attacked Mark Zuckerberg. Initially, Mark Zuckerberg explained to the journalists that those development projects did not have any connection with Facebook and urged them not to publish the investigation, but the newspaper published the article.
After that, Mark broke the mailbox of two journalists and found the user who is involved in the newspaper and the HarvardConnection. When the Winklevoss twins and Narendra filed a lawsuit, then the court rejected their claim. They filed another lawsuit, and the source code was examined to know the fact whether it is stolen or not, but the truth is unclear, and the result is not announced. In 2009 according to the court settlement, Mark agreed to pay $45 million ConnectU, then the case was closed. After that, they again filed a petition in the U.S court, but the court refused to take a review because of the settlement agreement of both parties, which states that after signing the document, they don’t have the right to resume the trial. On May 17, 2011, the twin brother filed another lawsuit to make the court reconsider the case.
One of the basic facts is how to bring money to the company. It was a challenge to find investors, and the problem is overcome by running a few advertisements. The primary earning of Facebook comes from the ads, and the 85% cash flow of the company was earned through contextual advertising. When the business starts to grow, making the right decision is very important and critical. Mark Zuckerberg makes every decision and solves every problem on the basis of the question, “Does it help us to grow”? Privacy concern is an important factor, and Mark Zuckerberg wants to create a way where users can control and maintain their privacy so they can restrict the sharing of information on specific networks. Mark said that the most fundamental thing on the internet is that people have control over their privacy.
